Diana Franchitto, President & CEO

Diana Franchitto, president & CEO of HopeHealth, has been a strong, leading voice in hospice, palliative and home care for nearly a decade. In January 2016, the affiliation between HopeHealth and Home Care & Hospice of New England, the parent company of Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence and Visiting Nurse Home Care in Lincoln, RI, was completed. Ms. Franchitto became the CEO of the expanded regional organization, HopeHealth, which is now New England’s largest non-profit hospice and palliative care organization. 

At Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, she facilitated a partnership with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University to become its first non-hospital teaching affiliate for hospice and palliative medicine in the nation. Ms. Franchitto established an inpatient palliative care consultation service for the Lifespan hospitals, selected nursing homes and home care agencies. In addition, she secured preferred provider relationships with Rhode Island’s first Accountable Care Organization (ACO) as well as other healthcare organizations. Read More

Patricia (Tricia) Downey, RN, Vice President of Hospice Operations

Tricia Downey joined HopeHealth in 2011 as director of special projects and became vice president of hospice operations in 2013. She has been in the hospice nursing field for close to 30 years with proven experience in acute clinical care, healthcare finance and technology. At HopeHealth, Ms. Downey is responsible for managing and supporting interdisciplinary teams providing end-of-life care and a 10-bed hospice inpatient care center.

Prior to joining HopeHealth, Ms. Downey was program director for Middlesex Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care; director of hospice, oncology and palliative care for Hartford Hospital: VNA Healthcare, Hospice and Palliative; director of care management at Hospice Care of Rhode Island; and clinical director of Hospice of Hampshire County. Ms. Downey rebuilt two hospice and palliative care programs consistently exceeding financial benchmarks in programs that previously were unable to meet budget and provided leadership to successfully open a hospital-based 12-bed hospice and palliative hospital based unit. Cynthia Hassett, Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Services

Cynthia Hassett joined HopeHealth in October 2014 as vice president of philanthropy and community services. In this capacity, Ms. Hassett has responsibility for leading and growing philanthropic support from the community and enhancing our community services including Hope Dementia & Alzheimer’s Services, Hope Community Care, Hope Care for Kids and Pediatric Palliative Care.

Prior to joining HopeHealth, Ms. Hassett spent 13 years in hospice, home health and palliative care with Hospice by the Sea (HBTS) in Boca Raton, Florida. She was the corporate project manager and director of grant programs. She managed the combination of HBTS with Spectrum Health to form a new continuum of care enterprise rebranded as TrustBridge, Inc. Some of her other corporate projects included creating a specialized hospice program for terminally ill Hispanics and a comprehensive caregiver support program integrating education, information, self-care complementary therapies and ongoing support. She worked with the HBTS Board to establish a separate philanthropic foundation to support charity care, caregiver initiatives, children’s bereavement and the Hispanic hospice program. Read more.
